I can’t climb Kilimanjaro because I’ve got a dodgy back

    2011 - 02.23

To raise awareness of this year’s Red Nose Day on 18 March, Now travelled to Cape Town with Sarah Harding to see where some of the vital funds raised by Comic Relief are being spent.

It was Sarah’s first time in South Africa and she was delighted to be invited on the trip, visiting mothers and mums-to-be living with HIV and a community project to help vulnerable children.

‘I just think it’s an amazing opportunity to get out here and witness the hardship first hand,’ the Girls Aloud star explained during her visit.

‘When I was younger I was taught about the poverty here but to
be truly passionate about it,
it was something I had to see
with my own eyes and talk

    to
the people here about.’

Bandmates Cheryl Cole and Kimberley Walsh did the Comic Relief climb two years ago, which inspired Sarah.

‘I’ve wanted to do something like this for a long time,’ she revealed.

    ‘I was asked to
do the Kilimanjaro climb but
I couldn’t because I’ve got a
dodgy back.’

    2011 - 02.22

Sarah Harding was pictured at London Fashion Week on Sunday showing of her newly dyed hair. Sarah has gone from a Blonde Bombshell to a Brunette Babe and looks absolutely stunning with her new hair.

So what do you guys think does she look better as a Blonde or a Brunette??

SARAH HARDING might be taking her obsession with the film Black Swan a little too far.

The GIRLS ALOUD star has swapped her blonde barnet for a look just like NATALIE PORTMAN’s from her new favourite film.

Sarah let slip at the Baftas a week ago how she was planning on dyeing it and she banged on about basing the theme of her wedding to DJ TOM CRANE on the ballet blockbuster.

The singer showed off her new do at the VIVIENNE WESTWOOD show for London Fashion Week yesterday as she arrived with bandmate NICOLA ROBERTS.

    It looks good though.

At least she won’t get mistaken for Big Brother’s JOSIE GIBSON now.

Sarah Harding swaps blonde for brunette as she debuts new dark locks at London Fashion Week

    2011 - 02.21

She’s been a peroxide blonde for as long as we’ve known her. But now Sarah Harding has appeared to have turned the old adage on its head and decided that it’s brunettes that have more fun. The pop star was almost unrecognisable as she arrived at a catwalk show for London Fashion Week yesterday.

In fact, if she hasn’t been standing next to her Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts, we might have had to look more than twice at her dramatic transformation.

Sarah, 29, debuted her darker locks as she arrived the Vivienne Westwood Red Label show at The Royal Courts of Justice.

And being one fifth of one of the UK’s biggest girl groups guaranteed her a front row seat, which made showing off her new colour even better.

Sarah was a guest at the grande dame of British fashion’s autumn-winter 2011 collection.

She was accompanied by Roberts, who had been a regular face on the London Fashion Week scene yesterday.

With them was actress Jamie Winstone and her mother Elaine, who also joined Harding and Roberts in front row seats.

Sarah’s new do looked striking against her brightly coloured patterned dress, which also flattered her slender figure.

Her darker hair made a nice change from her blonde, which she has had for years, but might also be something to do with her wedding this year to DJ fiancé Tom Crane.

This week, Sarah told the Sun that she had been inspired by the award-winning film Black Swan which had given her ideas for her wedding.

She said: ‘I’m obsessed with the film. I love that dark, gothic kind of feel and I want to channel that into the wedding. I want everything to be dark, the decoration on the tables and everything.

‘Tom wants something more traditional but I want to show a bit of my dark side. I would love to have it in a gothic castle.’

    SARAH HARDING’S HELP FOR AFRICA

    2011 - 02.16

SHE’S usually found swigging free champagne at swanky showbiz parties and performing in sexy outfits on stage.

So the slums of South Africa are way out of Sarah Harding’s comfort zone.

The Girls Aloud star’s visit to Cape Town to promote Red Nose Day on Friday March 18 has opened her eyes to an entirely different way of life.

Here, the Aids epidemic is rife, with almost 1,000 people dying every day in South Africa alone.

Sarah visited mothers2mothers, a project offering support for HIV positive pregnant women and new mothers, and Grassroots Soccer, which uses football to educate, inspire and empower communities to stop the spread of HIV.

With tears in her eyes, the singer says: “To see the strength these people have is so humbling. I’m amazed at how strong these women and children are.”

Sarah is engaged to long-term partner, DJ Tom Crane, 31, and as one fifth of Britain’s hottest girlband she has played sell-out concerts all over the world.

Together the girls have amassed a fortune of more than £30million thanks to four UK No 1s and 20 consecutive top 10 singles, as well as two No 1 albums.

But the visit to South Africa, Sarah explains, is truly life-changing. She cradles a tiny three-day-old baby as she is given the devastating news that he is to be tested for HIV.

Sarah says: “It’s heartbreaking. I can’t believe how tiny he is.”

Cuddling the tot in her arms she admits the meeting has made her want to shed her party-girl image. Smiling, she gushes: “It makes me feel broody. He’s so cute.”

Helping Comic Relief is something of a Girls Aloud tradition. In 2007 they teamed up with Sugababes to record the charity’s official single, a cover of Aerosmith’s Walk This Way which topped the charts.

Sarah’s bandmates Cheryl Cole, 27, and Kimberley Walsh, 29, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania two years ago as part of a celebrity team which raised £3.5million.

Sarah says seeing their experience made her want to do something herself. She explains: “I was asked to do the climb with them but couldn’t because I have a dodgy back.

“I’ve supported Comic Relief for many years, so when the opportunity came up to visit a project with British Airways I was keen to go.

But having never visited Cape Town, or a township, I didn’t know what to expect. I was told about the poverty here but to be truly passionate about it I had to see it with my own eyes and talk to the people about it.

“I met some exceptional people who are facing unimaginable circumstances.”

Sarah’s trip was part of a BA partnership with Comic Relief called Flying Start, which aims to transform the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the UK and around the world.

She adds: “It was a privilege to witness the work and I came away feeling uplifted. Every penny raised for Comic Relief and British Airways Flying Start really counts.”

Sarah Harding on working with Comic Relief

    2011 - 02.15

British Airways is also undertaking a number of other initiatives to raise awareness and money for Flying Start. The airline recently hosted a trip to visit Comic Relief funded projects in Cape Town, joined by British Airways chief executive Keith Williams and long term Comic Relief supporter and Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding.

Project visits included mothers2mothers – a mentoring program offering comprehensive support for HIV-positive pregnant women and new mothers, and Grassroots Soccer – which uses the power of football to educate, inspire and empower communities to stop the spread of HIV.

Speaking of her visit Sarah Harding said: “I’ve supported Comic Relief for many years, so when the opportunity came up to visit a project with British Airways I was keen to go, but having never visited Cape Town or a township before, I didn’t know what to expect.

“However, I found myself meeting some exceptional people despite the unimaginable circumstances they face. It was a privilege to witness the good work that Flying Start supports and came away feeling uplifted, inspired and keen to do more.”

British Airways’ chief executive, Keith Williams, said: “Having recently seen first-hand where the money goes, I am more enthusiastic than ever about Flying Start. The comedy gig in the sky is just one of several fundraising initiatives we’re involved in – and we hope it raises smiles and money at the same time.”

Sarah Harding: I won’t follow Cheryl Cole to Hollywood

    2011 - 02.15

The budding actress, who starred in St. Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fratton Gold, says she won’t be joining Cole and her other LA-based bandmate Nadine in Hollywood any time soon.

Harding is giving Tinseltown a miss because she’s confident she can make a name for herself at home.

‘I’ve heard people saying I’m moving to LA,’ the 29-year-old told Metro at the Grey Goose Soho House official Bafta party.

‘That’s not going to happen. It’s not my scene and couldn’t do it. I want to take little baby steps with my acting and do it all bit by bit.’

Harding has been bringing some Red Nose Day cheer to children in Cape Town, South Africa.

She launched the Flying Start project, where BA has teamed up with Comic Relief to stage the world’s highest comedy stand up gig featuring Dara O’Briain, Jack Whitehall and Jon Richardson.

    Sarah’s cygnet ring

    2011 - 02.15

A LEATHERED SARAH HARDING has let slip plans for her wedding.

The GIRLS ALOUD star – engaged to DJ TOM CRANE – is such a big fan of the Bafta-winning film Black Swan she’s aiming to base her big day on it.

Sarah revealed: “I’m obsessed with the film. I love that dark, gothic kind of feel and I want to channel that into the wedding. I want everything to be dark, the decoration on the tables and everything.”

Sounds cheery. It’s not surprising Tom isn’t too keen on the idea.

Sarah said: “Tom wants something more traditional but I want to show a bit of my dark side. I would love to have it in a gothic castle.”

I reckon she could end up looking like NATALIE PORTMAN who stars in Black Swan.

At first it looked like there could have been trouble in paradise for Sarah on Sunday – she wasn’t wearing her ring. But it’s not because of an argument, it’s in the jewellers’.

She added: “I’m having it altered. I want it to be more rock ‘n’ roll.”

Being rock ‘n’ roll isn’t a problem Sarah has – she was still on the sauce at 4am yesterday.

Sarah Harding – My Dark secret

    2011 - 02.15

SARAH Harding has put gossip of a Girls Aloud rift to bed by insisting Nadine Coyle will definitely be at her wedding.

The babe, who also revealed she is set to dye her hair brown, said rumours of the five girls not getting on were nonsense.

Sarah, 29, who got engaged to Tom Crane, 31, on New Year’s Eve, said: “I’m getting married, I can’t wait.

“All the Girls Aloud girlies will be at my wedding, as far as I know. and yes that 100% includes Nadine. There really is no drama between any of us. It’s going to

    be amazing.”

Budding film star Sarah turned up to the Orange Bafta British Academy Film awards wearing a show-stopping red dress which was split to the thigh.

Chatting to us over a posh post- awards dinner at Grosvenor House Hotel, Sarah, pictured left with our Jess, said: “Tonight’s my final party night as a blonde. Tomorrow morning I’m dyeing my hair brown, as dark as yours.

“It’s a new chapter, I’m focusing on a few films which are in the pipeline. I love films.”

Girls Aloud bandmate Kimberley Walsh, was presenting live on the red carpet for the E! channel, greeting A-list stars as they arrived.

But Sarah didn’t fancying being interviewed by her bezzie mate.

She added: “I couldn’t do an interview with Kimberley, that would be really embarrassing for both of us.”

Sanchez: ‘Harding unsure over solo LP’

    2011 - 02.09

Roger Sanchez has revealed that Sarah Harding is undecided as to whether she will record a solo album.

The producer and DJ, who is gearing up for the release of his new single ‘2Gether’, said Harding will “definitely” feature on the LP, but has yet to decide if she will make a full solo LP with the hitmaker.

“We’re not sure right now. She’s still in the experimenting stage at the moment,” Sanchez told Digital Spy.

“Whatever we come out with, we’ll decide whether it’s for her or me – although she will definitely feature on my album.”

He continued: “It might be a good way to get the ball rolling on her project, but we haven’t put any restrictions on how much or little we record together.”

The ‘Another Chance’ star also revealed that he has written and produced a track for Harding with McFly’s Danny Jones, adding: “Danny and I have written and produced one track with her, and I’m going to get together with her again soon and put some more ideas together.”

‘2Gether’, which features Far*East Movement, is released on March 20.
