Sarah Harding – I’m my own worst critic

She’s one of the latest star signings to head to the cobbles of Weatherfield, but Sarah Harding admits she has her sights set on Hollywood.

The former Girls Aloud star will make her soap debut with a cameo on Coronation Street next month, and after wowing producers, has been already been handed a second contract.

Her feisty character, a rival to troublemaker Tracy Barlow, may be bringing a whole load of drama to the show, however, it’s action on the big screen that the 33-year-old craves.
Speaking to the MailOnline, she said: ‘[I would love to have a career like] Uma Thurman in Kill Bill! or Angelina Jolie.’

Despite her acting ambitions, Sarah can’t deny she’s already nervous about watching herself on the nation’s most beloved soap – and about the reaction of the viewers.
‘I am my own worse critic so I might be watching from behind a cushion,’ she explained. ‘You can’t please everyone… you win some you lose some! But I would like to think that I did my character justice.’

Sarah is determined to make 2015 her year after some time away from the spotlight. Alongside her spot on Corrie, she showed off her cooking skills on Celebrity Masterchef earlier this month and is currently working on new music.
And her hectic schedule means she has to work hard to maintain her slim figure, ‘It’s good to be back with a bang. There is so much going on right now but it’s great to be busy. I’m really looking forward to what’s to come.

‘I’ve been working out a lot recently. With everything that’s coming up it’s important I’m in tip-top shape.’

The star – who first shot to fame on Pop Stars: The Rivals back in 2002 – is back to where she feels most comfortable, the recording studio, to work on new solo material.
And Sarah – famed for pop classic with her former band including Biology and Love Machine – insists the tracks will shock her fans.

‘I think my fans will be surprised, I don’t think my new music is what will be expected!

‘Lets just say it’s a mixture of pop and rock thrown in to one! I can’t wait to share it with everyone!’

It’s been over two years since Girls Aloud bowed out following a sold out tour to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Although she’s raring to get back on stage, Sarah – who is currently the face of Virgin Media’s High Speed Selfie Booth – admits it will be a strange experience going it alone with the other girls.

‘I wouldn’t say I’m worried about performing alone, yes it will be different without the girls but I’m excited to get back on stage and do what I love.
