Sarah Harding gets a new job after Girls Aloud split: Government advisor

The former singer is to to act as an ambassador for charity Coming Home and will give advice to David Cameron on returning British soldiers

AS one fifth of Girls Aloud, Sarah Harding is used to performing in some pretty intimidating arenas.

None, however, that was quite as daunting as that of her latest gig – in the Houses of Parliament.

That’s right. In a rather unlikely turn of events, reformed party girl Sarah is swapping stilettos for marching boots and advising David Cameron & Co on returning British soldiers.

As part of her ambassadorship with Coming Home – a charity raising money for injured service personnel coming back from Afghanistan – the singer will be addressing up to 200 MPs on the importance of funding specially adapted houses.

She has been invited to the Commons on June 13 alongside the Falklands Veterans Foundation and, not surprisingly, Sarah, 31, is more than a little nervous.

“Sarah has been asked to give a speech, which she is writing herself, on behalf of the charity.

“She will urge MPs to offer more fiscal and emotional support to our returning troops. It is something she feels passionately about. So she agreed to take part even though public speaking really isn’t her thing.”

The Star who recently completed Girls Aloud’s comeback Ten tour, could well be getting advice from former bandmate Nicola Roberts.

Coming Home is the sister organisation of Help for Heroes which, in the wake of Lee Rigby’s horrific killing – he was wearing a HFH T-shirt when he died – makes her speech even more poignant. And important.

No pressure, then.

In slightly lighter news, Sarah is also currently working on a new solo album and a debut fashion line.
