With the arrival of Nadine Coyle’s baby girl last month, and news that bandmate Kimberley Walsh will follow suit in August with her own bundle of joy, a reproductive boom is occurring in the Girls Aloud camp.
And while sources speculate that Sarah Harding, loved up with DJ Mark Foster, will be the next to announce the patter of tiny feet, the stunning blonde actually has plans on conquering the world – and a darling infant simply won’t fit in the mix.
There’s designs on Hollywood and desires for a spot on a talent show judging panel, not to mention an upcoming solo album and tour. She’s even in negotiations for an assault on the charts with our own Bressie, with whom she recently worked as a mentor on The Voice of Ireland. So it seems the lady’s got several boxes to tick before mommahood rears its head.
Guess it’s over to Cheryl or Nicola to grab the baby baton…“Someday,” she sparkles, giggling infectiously. “I’d love it to happen someday, of course, but that’s way off right now.
“People think it’ll be me next because I’m the eldest in the band but, actually, I’ve always been the youngest at heart. I’m forever Peter Pan,” says the popstar, whose wild partying ways earned her the nickname Hardcore Harding during her Girls Aloud days.
Following a stint in rehab in 2011 for alcohol dependence and depression, Sarah has now turned things around after swapping the London party scene for a quiet life in the country with her boyfriend and menagerie of animals.
She’s far happier in herself, and delighted for her bandmates.
“I’m so over the moon for Kimberley and Nadine.
Kimberley was always the mother of the group and Nadine’s just such a proud momma. I haven’t met her little one yet but I’m so eager to see her. It’s a really exciting time, we’re entering this new phase in our lives.”
Sitting down with SWM at her swanky launch party as ambassador of new skincare line, Face B4, in exclusive London member’s club Morton’s, the 32-yearold beauty is anxiously gearing up for the release of her new solo material and accompanying gigs.
“I am sh*tting myself,” laughs Sarah, who won a place in thechart-topping girl group on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
“I’m getting nervous now and, yeah, it’ll be a little strange being on the stage without the girls.
“I’ve been working on this album for four years. It’s still pop, but it’s grown-up pop, with an edge. My taste is like the Doobie Brothers and The Eagles.
Now I’m showing my age. My dad used to be a musician, he’d sing all that stuff, so there’s influences from every corner. I love No Doubt and Bob Marley too, but…” she quickly leaps back on her words. “There’s no reggae on there. At least not yet, that is.”
Brows were raised when the gorgeous Manchester-raised star, who dazzles in a monochrome oversized T-shirt and studded black leggings, was quoted claiming her new music would spark controversy with some rather suggestive, explicit lyrics.
But Sarah hit back at those rumours, claiming fans will struggle to find offense in her new material: “I know people are saying, ‘Oh Sweara Harding’.
Whatever,” she snorts. “I’m not going to be adverse to the odd swear word, but it’s not Rihanna, it’s not full-on ‘effing this’ and ‘I want to do this to you’.
“Although not that I’ve a problem with that. I listen to Eminem and all that kind of stuff. But with my music, I wear my heart on my sleeve, whether I’ve written it myself or not.
“There’s one track with a bit of swearing, but nothing majorly offensive. It’s light of shade.”
Probably for the best if she’s planning a duet with clean-living, hunky rocker Bressie. The pair got on famously after Sarah helped mentor his acts on the current series of The Voice of Ireland.
“I’d love to [record with Bressie], we’re both really into our music and had such a great time working together on The Voice. It’s like the logical next step. Poor guy though, he didn’t even know I was being brought in as his mentor, or his ‘mental mentor’, I should say.”
Seems the bubbly blonde made quite the lasting impression on the lofty star, who admitted he got “flustered” in the Girls Alouder’s company.
“Did he ‘eck,”
Sarah roars in an infectious Northern burr, throwing her head back, exposing a blinding set of pearly whites.
“Well, if he did, he didn’t show it.
Have you seen his girlfriend [model Roz Purcell]? She’s gorgeous.
“You never know,” adds Sarah, whose mum Marie comes from Donnycarney, North Dublin, adds with a wink.
“Maybe in another life. He’s a hunky boy isn’t he? Very tall.”
why Bressie would crumble in front of this gorgeous girl. And with her beaming smile and flawless skin, it makes sense that new skincare range, Face B4, would choose her as its face and spokeswoman.
Formulated to combat blocked pores and spots, the two-in-one cleanser and toner facewash contains plant extracts to fight acne and problem skin. And, unsurprisingly, Harding now swears by it.
“Back in the day, I wasn’t the most confident and I didn’t have the best of skin.
“And I still get breakouts. Even on the day of the shoot for this campaign, which was the first time I tried the product, I woke up with a big spot. Sod’s law; there’s one just right in the middle on my face, sticking its finger up.
“But I tried Face B4 and my skin didn’t get all horrible and flaky and dry. It’s really kind to your skin as well as cleansing.
“Back in the day, I’d use the equivalent of paintstripper. And Oxy pads too, which stung so bad and probably left scars. “But Face B4 is great, it takes off your make-up and it isn’t hard or abrasive.”
And Sarah will need those flawless features more than ever if she’s to take on Hollywood after starring in BBC drama, Freefall and flop comedy St Trinian’s, not to forget her ambition to make it as a talent show judge, like bandmate Cheryl Cole.
“There’s still so much I want to do. I love acting, I love becoming a different person and my few stints here and there in Freefall and Run for Your Wife and St Trinian’s definitely increased my interest, but I won’t be heading to Hollywood just yet.
“I’ve the attention span of a goldfish. I need to focus on one thing and right now that’s music, and whether by the end of the year, that’s a flop or a top, at least I gave it a try.
“I’ve been approached for lots of different talent shows,” she adds, “but it was never the right time for me. So what I did with Bressie on The Voice of Ireland felt like the right starter point. I’m glad I did it there first because it gave me the baby steps to try it out in the future.”
So, with so much to divide and conquer, would she even be available for a Girls Aloud 20th anniversary reunion down the line, should the opportunity present itself? “I hope that happens.
Although can’t imagine what everyone else will be up to, but we’ll see. Might have to change our name though. Maybe Ladies Aloud? Or I like the sound of Grannies Aloud.”
At this rate, we’re more likely looking at Mums Aloud.

She’s looking better than ever after finding happiness with boyfriend Mark Foster and settling down in the countryside.
But former Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding has denied reports she’s had botox to make her look younger – and insists it’s just because she’s put on weight.
“No botox… See that’s where the fringe comes in – you can hide the wrinkles!” she joked.
“If I’m looking younger, it’s probably because I’ve put a bit of weight on.”
She did however admit that the lip fillers she had in 2010 were a ‘mistake’ that she made from being curious in her 20s.
“We all learnt by that mistake… I was just curious. Thank God it wasn’t permanent!” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

The 32-year-old blonde beauty also reckoned that she was too skinny when she was at the height of her fame with the band that were formed on Popstars: The Rivals back in 2002.
“If you’re too skinny, it can make you look a lot older. I’ve looked at pictures in the past where I was really too skinny but then I was dancing all the time,” she told us.
“I’m not an avid dancer, it’s not my forte. It wasn’t my favourite part of being in the band. I like to keep trim but I don’t like to be too skinny, it shows on someone’s face. It’s not a good look, it’s ageing.”
It’s been a year since the Girls Aloud Ten Tour, but Sarah still stays in shape by hitting the gym three times a week and having a ‘moderately healthy’ diet.
“I try and exercise three times a week, I go on my cross trainer or go to the gym. That’s more or less it and I have my juice in the morning,” she said.
“What I tend to do is go to the gym where I can use more things on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then I’ll use my own one in the garage on a Tuesday and Thursday, because the weather’s so bad I don’t want to go out to a damp garage!”
The Berkshire-born star told us she eats healthily most of the time – but she’s not adverse to the odd fry-up either.
“I eat pretty healthily, I have a take out once a week or something. I moderately eat carbs. I tend to juice quite a lot as well. I don’t juice instead of a meal but what I tend to do is make a juice and blend it with an avocado before I have breakfast, before I have a workout,” she said.
“I’ve done the whole juicing thing at Jason Vale’s, once every six months, where you have four juices a day. It’s a proper detox, it’s hard work, you end up doing 5k walks. It’s very difficult for the past few days but by the end you just feel amazing, it is worth it.

She admitted to us that her new fringe is a handy disguise for wrinkles that means she doesn’t have to resort to botox.
But it seems there was another reason why Sarah Harding opted for an edgy new fringe – and it comes in the form of Gaga.
“It was just time for a complete image overhaul. I’m a bit of a chameleon when it comes to my hair. I wanted something a bit edgier,” she said.
“In my studio, I’ve got a picture of Lady Gaga and I just loved it, she looked fierce, like a proper little rock chick.”
The 32-year-old singer – who recently announced a one-off charity gig to showcase her new solo material – uses a combination of salt spray and sulphate-free treatments to keep her blonde locks in tip-top condition.
“I’ve got a [Percy and Reed] texturizing salt spray that I didn’t mean to use – I turned the shower on and it squirted on my face!” she said.
“My hair is naturally quite wavy. I just decided to punk it up a bit. I use a bit of a mixture of stuff with my hair really. I use the Phyto range, with no sulphates. If it’s not that, I usually go with Redken.”
She also added that she likes to use a hair mask on her locks as it’s prone to breakages from being artificialy coloured.
“When my hair’s this blonde, it’s more prone to breakages so I have to always put a good treatment on it,” she said.
But when she’s lazing around the house with her DJ boyfriend, Sarah refuses to use any products on her hair and simply scrapes it up into a ponytail.
“When I’m at home, I normally just scrape it back off my face. I don’t overly style it myself when I’m not working – I’m quite natural when I’m not working,” she revealed.
Beauty-wise, Sarah admitted there’s one brand she’s particularly loyal to (and we reckon most of us are too!)
“I’m a MAC queen! I love it in there. I’m terrible, if you get me in the Selfridges Beauty Hall, I’m like a magpie!” she said.
“I just love products. I did hair and beauty when I was at college, I got my NVQ – I was a beauty school drop-out! I know a thing or two.”
She also added that drinking lots of water keeps her skin, nails and hair healthy.
“I think drinking lots of water makes a big difference, keeping yourself hydrated,” she said.

Sarah Harding – Face B4 interview 2
She’s been with boyfriend Mark Foster for more than a year, with the couple happily settled down in the countryside.
But Sarah Harding reckons she’s not ready to start a family of her own following former bandmates’ Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyle’s baby news.
The ex-Girls Aloud star, 32, denied that she’d be next one to get pregnant after Kimberley announced this week she’s expecting a baby with boyfriend Justin Scott.
“There was a picture [of Girls Aloud] where Nadine was far left and then Kimberley, so apparently I’m next in line! I was like ‘oh, shit!’” she told Yahoo Celebrity.
“Not just yet thank you, my animals are my babies.”
“They went to the kennels last night as Mark’s away touring but the cats are alright overnight. It’s a good time… I like it… they’re my pals. I’d be so lonely without them!” she said.
“You’d go insane out there on your own all the time. I’d be talking to myself, which would be worrying. Mark’s away working quite a lot and I’m away quite a lot, we’re like passing ships quite a lot.
But the Berkshire-born beauty – who found fame on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 – admitted she’d go along with it if she did get pregnant with her DJ boyfriend.
“I don’t know, if it happened, it’s obviously meant to be, everything happens for a reason,” she said.
Sarah was one of the first of Kimberley’s bandmates to send her congratulations on Twitter, but told us she was surprised Kimbers didn’t have a baby before Nadine.
“Kimberley, obviously [I’ve spoken to], because she announced she was expecting. I wasn’t surprised, I was more surprised she wasn’t first!” she said.
“We’ve been in touch texting and stuff but we’ve been really busy. It’s only been a couple of days since she announced it.”
But she has yet to meet Nadine Coyle’s two-week-old baby girl as she’s based in Los Angeles with her boyfriend, former NFL star Jason Bell.
According to Sarah, Nadine has taken to motherhood like a duck to water and her daughter is the perfect little girl.
“Nadine’s taken to it like a duck to water. My Tour Manager goes over to LA for St. Patrick’s Day and I’m half Irish so I might pop over and go see her.
“She’s apparently very laid back, just like her mum. Apparently she’s like the dream child.”
And with rumours circulating that Cheryl Cole is set to return to the X Factor, Sarah told us she’d be supportive of her coming back to the TV talent show.
Sarah Harding – Face B4 Interview
She was one fifth of the biggest and most glamorous girl group in pop’s history. But reflecting on her time with Girls Aloud, Sarah Harding has admitted that she was too thin.
Speaking to MailOnline, Sarah said: ‘I was too skinny when I was with the girls, it was ageing.’
The 32-year-old has now adopted a much more healthy approach to her weight and, like many celebrities, has jumped on the juicing bandwagon.
I’ve caught the juicing bug. I love being in the kitchen and cooking and creating juices and smoothies every day.
‘I love anything green and I make my own juices packed with kale, parsley, cucumber, courgettes, apples, plus spirulina and chlorella.
‘If I want to fill myself up I will add ice and half an avocado. It looks gross, but it tastes great.’
The pop star loves juicing so much that she visits the Jason Vale juicing retreat twice a year. ‘It’s hard, we don’t eat,’ she said of her time there.
Despite her love of all things green, Sarah says that she eats plenty throughout the day and loves sweet treats.
I’m Irish, I love stodge! I’m a picker but I do try to steer clear of gluten because it bloats me, there’s lots of great gluten-free alternatives though.
‘I have a naughty cupboard at home with Skittles and Haribo from my fans who know I love them,’ she said.
Sarah is on a mission to undo the years of late nights and has even signed up as an ambassador for anti-bacterial face wash, Faceb4.
The brand said Sarah was the perfect ambassador because she is so honest about her breakouts.
Speaking about her skin, Sarah said: ‘Travelling a lot doesn’t agree with my skin so I am obsessed with cleansing morning and night at the moment.
‘I am hooked on Faceb4, which I use before photo shoots because it removes the bacteria before applying cosmetics and keeps my skin healthy. It’s also amazing after a heavy weekend!’
Aside from juicing and hitting the gym three times, Sarah is focusing on her hotly-anticipated solo career.
‘I am so excited about my new music, it speaks volumes about my personality. I love writing songs but I find the recording process very monotonous and quite draining.
‘I know it will be worth it in the end, it will be such an amazing sense of achievement and I hope it’s well received; I’m my own worst critic.’
If there was one member of Girls Aloud who loved a good time, it was without a doubt Sarah.
But the notorious party girl says she’s calmed down and now prefers to spend her evenings in a more conservative way.
‘Me and my partner Mark are addicted to Breaking Bad. We watch three episodes a night and sit there munching away on popcorn together.’
Despite her cosy life with DJ Mark Foster, Sarah insists that she won’t be following bandmate Kimberley Walsh and Nadine Coyles’s footsteps by having a baby.
Speaking about Kimberley’s pregnancy announcement, she said: ‘I wasn’t at all surprised, she’s been with Justin for years and years but it won’t be me next. I have a lot of boxes to tick before I start a family.’
